Prologue: Why I wrote this book and what it can do for you
I wrote this book because I kept seeing the same mistake.
Brilliant content. Beautiful design. Fast websites. And yet, pages that should be ranking weren't. Content that deserved to be found was buried. Authority that had been earned through years of work was leaking out through invisible cracks.
The problem wasn't what people were doing wrong. The problem was what they weren't doing at all.
Internal linking is the most underrated lever in SEO. It's not flashy. It doesn't make for great conference talks. You can't sell it as a quick win. But it's the foundation that everything else rests on. Get it right, and your external link building works harder. Your content performs better. Your crawl budget stretches further. Get it wrong, and you're fighting with one hand tied behind your back.
I've been doing SEO for long enough to have made every mistake in this book. I've built sites with no internal structure. I've orphaned pages without knowing what I was doing. I've wasted link equity on pages that didn't matter while starving the ones that did. I've chased external links while ignoring the network I already owned.
This book is what I wish I'd had when I started. Not theory. Not abstract advice. A practical, surgical approach to internal linking that you can implement starting this week.
The examples are real. The tools are the ones I actually use. The strategies are battle-tested across ecommerce, SaaS, content sites, and enterprise SEO.
One thing before we begin: internal linking isn't a project you finish. It's a habit you build. The sites that win at this don't audit once and declare victory. They treat it as a living system that needs attention every time they publish, redesign, or launch something new.
If you're ready to stop leaking authority and start building a web that works for you, let's begin.
