Value‑Realization Event
The observable moment when a customer first experiences the core value of a product or service. For a food delivery app, it is the meal arriving. For a SaaS product, it might be the first report generated, the first campaign sent, or the first team member invited. For a physical product, it is often the unboxing or the first successful use. The value‑realization event is the psychological counterpoint to the payment event; it closes the transaction loop and often produces a satisfaction spike. Upsells timed to this event consistently outperform those timed to the payment event, because the customer is now in a state of confirmed value rather than speculative commitment.
Example: A ride‑hailing app’s value‑realization event is the completion of the trip; the upsell for a premium vehicle tier lands on the rating screen that follows, not on the booking screen that precedes it.
