Gain Frame
A way of presenting a choice that emphasizes what the user will acquire or receive. In contrast to a loss frame, which highlights what will be lost or missed, a gain frame activates a less defensive, more open psychological state. Users who have rejected an offer framed as a purchase may accept the same offer framed as a bonus or gift. The gain frame is especially effective for re-engaging silently churned users, because it repositions the company as a source of value rather than a source of demands. The technique draws directly on prospect theory's finding that gains are processed differently from equivalent losses.
Example: A SaaS platform grants disengaged users 50 free automation credits with no purchase requirement, reframing the product as a generous tool rather than a pending bill.
